Alissa Heyman is a free-lance writer and editor. She selected, annotated, and edited The Best Poems of the English Language (Mud Puddle Books), a comprehensive collection of essential English language poetry. Her poems have appeared in St. Petersburg Review, Lyric, and Quarto. She has abridged and adapted The Big Book series for Sterling Publishing, which includes The Big Book of Horror, The Big Book of Fairies, and The Big Book of Pirates. Her picture book, The Twelve Dancing Unicorns, is due to be published by Sterling in 2012. Alissa Heyman lives in New York City where she also curates the Perfect Sense poetry reading series at The Cornelia Street Café.
